Panther Chameleon Care Sheet

Description: Panther Chameleons use their long tongues to stick catch food and bring it back to their mouth. Chameleons also have the ability to move each of their two eyes independently which allows them to keep watch on their food and surroundings.
Scientific Name: Calumma pardalis
Lifespan: Up to 5 years
Average Size: 10 to 12 inches

Feeding

Panther Chameleons eat a diet of insects which includes crickets, mealworms and waxworms. The insects should be dusted with a calcium supplement on a daily basis.

Since Pather Chameleons will not drink water from a dish it will be necessary to mist the enclosure frequently to allow them to lick the moisture from the plant leaves.

Habitat

Humidity: A humidity level of between 60% and 80% should be maintained in the habitat at all times.

Lighting: Panther Chameleons require full spectrum UV light in 10 to 12 hour cycles.

Physical Design: Panther Chameleons will require a dense area for one portion of their habitat that they can hide in, with an open area as well which they can use for basking.

Temperature: A good temperature gradient for Panther Chameleons is 70 degrees F at the cool end to 90 degrees F on the warm end.
