House Gecko Care Sheet

Description: House Geckos are very small in size which makes them easy to keep as pets because they do not require a large enclosure.
Scientific Name: Hemidactylus frenatus
Lifespan: Up to 10 years
Average Size: 3 to 4 inches
Origin: Parts of Africa and Asia

Feeding

Feed your House Gecko a variety of smaller insects. Crickets should make up the staple of their diet but mealworms, waxworms and other small insects will provide your House Gecko with sufficient variety.

House Geckos love to drink water from a dish in their enclosure so be sure to provide them with fresh water at all times.

Habitat

Humidity: A humidity level of between 50% and 60% is perfect for House Gecko lizards.

Lighting: House Gecko actually do not require UVB light to stay healthy.

Physical Design: These geckos love to climb so provide them with plenty of branches and plants to climb on. Live plants are better but fake plants will also work.

Size: A single House Gecko should not need more than a 2 foot cubic area for their habitat.

Substrate: Some sort of bark or mulch will work well as a substrate for House Geckos.

Temperature: 75 degrees F should be the temperature at the lower end of the heat gradient while 90 degrees F is suitable for the warm end.
